Why do I have the gear I have?

Have you ever think that maybe you already have the best photography gear?
Why?  Because most of the time you might receive photography feedback as:
  • Work on your composition, you need one step aside, or forward, etc.
  • Change your exposure to measure shadows, or high lights, etc.
  • Use a tripod for steady shot, or lay on something steady.
  • Use different ISO to give XorY appearance.
  • Post-process you image to enhance it, etc.
Maybe you are thinking on better gear after receiving some feedback like:
  • It looks that you are not using a full frame camera.  It might help if you use one.
  • The quality glass you are using is setting boundaries for your style.
  • The f/stop you are using is entry level, you should use f/stop of higher (and priced) lens.
  • The brand X is better that the Y you are using.  Change your camera brand and your photos will be better.
Well, if you really need a better gear, you already know what characteristics you need and what gear might cover them.  This is my lader indicator for new gear: Arguello Flores Collection

But sometimes, you don't need a reason to have a new gear. Yes, sometimes, money is enough.
What is your case on getting new gear?
